Colony-Targeted Ant Elimination

Ant Control in Athens, OH That Targets the Whole Colony

Name: Nex Pest Control

Price range: $$

A line of ants across your counter is a scouting trail, not the problem itself; we trace it back to where the colony actually lives. A colony that seems to vanish overnight after a home spray often hasn't died at all — it's budded into two or three new colonies elsewhere in the structure.

Why Choose Us

Why Choose Our Specialized Ant Control in Athens, OH

Professional Ant Control technician working in Athens, OH

Species-Specific Ant Identification

Carpenter ants, odorous house ants, and fire ants each require different bait and treatment strategies — we identify before treating.

Fast Athens, OH Dispatch

Ant calls get prompt scheduling, especially where carpenter ant activity suggests possible wood damage in progress.

Clear, Upfront Pricing

Pricing is set after inspection and species identification, not billed by the number of ants seen.

Bait Station & Perimeter Equipment

We use slow-acting gel and granular baits designed for colony transfer, plus perimeter barrier products for long-term exclusion. We also document which trails led back to which harborage points, useful information if a related colony resurfaces elsewhere on the property later.

Service Solutions

Ant Control in Athens, OH: Comprehensive Solutions

Carpenter Ant Colony Elimination

Because carpenter ants signal possible wood damage, we combine baiting with a structural inspection for hollow-sounding wood.

Odorous House Ant Treatment

Odorous house ants split into satellite colonies easily, so treatment targets the full network, not just one nest.

Fire Ant Mound Treatment

We treat visible mounds directly and broadcast bait more broadly to catch mounds not yet visible above ground.

Pavement Ant Perimeter Control

Pavement ants nest under slabs and expansion joints — treatment focuses on those foundation-level entry points.

Interior Trail & Kitchen Treatment

We match bait formulation to species preference — protein, sugar, or grease-based — for faster colony uptake.

Seasonal Perimeter Ant Prevention

Ongoing exterior barrier treatment to intercept ant colonies before they establish trails into the structure.

What Athens Customers Say About Our Ant Control

★★★★★

Turns out it was carpenter ants, not the odorous house ants we assumed. Glad they checked before just spraying.

Felicia N.

★★★★★

Fire ant mounds in the yard were treated individually plus a broader bait application. Haven't seen a new mound since.

Grady S.

Homeowner

★★★★★

The trail on our kitchen counter disappeared within a week once they placed bait instead of just spraying it away.

Ingrid W.

Homeowner

★★★★★

Appreciated the explanation of why spraying visible ants doesn't fix anything. Made the bait approach make sense.

Omar C.

Homeowner

★★★★★

Landscaping crew flagged carpenter ant frass around our pergola before we noticed. Technician confirmed no structural involvement and treated the colony directly.

FAQ

Ant Control Questions From Athens Customers

Trusted Ant Control service in Athens, OH - Nex Pest Control

Contact spray disrupts foraging trails temporarily but doesn't reach the nest, so the colony typically survives and can spread.

Carpenter ants are larger than most household ants, often black or black-and-red, and you may notice small piles of wood shavings (frass) near baseboards or window sills.

Colony elimination via bait typically takes one to two weeks as the product spreads through the nest.

Fire ant colonies can have multiple mounds, so we typically combine spot mound treatment with a wider bait application.

Colony elimination clears the current infestation; a seasonal perimeter program helps prevent new colonies from establishing afterward.

We place bait in enclosed stations or protected areas specifically to limit pet and child access. It also helps to keep mulch beds pulled back a few inches from the foundation, since that gap alone reduces ant bridge points significantly.
